Visit the Bay
The area of Halong Bay itself is very large, if you ever wish to see almost sites of the bay it may take a few weeks to do so. There are 2 popular fixed routes which are Amazing Cave (Hang Sung Sot) for 2 days and 3 days cruise & Heaven Palace Cave (Dong Thien Cung) for day cruise. With 2 separated day cruises, you will see both of that above caves and routes. However, people normally take 3 options below:
- 2 days 1 night cruise (overnight on Halong Bay Junk like a floating hotel) to visit Amazing Cave, fishing villages and Ti Top beach and Bai Tu Long Bay…Some of cruise operators take a different routes but basically you will get all similar views, one to the others in nearly 2.000 rocks and islets on the Bay
- 3 days 2 nights which is another option for longer stay vacationers. Similar to first 2 days on above option 1 but may extended to Cat Ba (the biggest island of Halong Bay) and Lan Ha Bay which is located quite remote to the North of Halong Bay.
- Day cruise trip for someone preferred to overnight in Halong City, people may take one first cruise in 4 or 5 hours on arrival day and the same length cruise on second day before back to Hanoi.
Besides, the one day trip attached with 4 hours cruise in Halong Bay is also popular for limited time travelers from Hanoi.
Visit the Halong City
There are some nice spots in Halong City that you should not miss while stay overnight in Halong City.
The fishing market in Hon Gai which is about 10 minutes drive from Bai Chay. This is totally local retailed market selling all goods but a special part is fish and aquaculture products. Market is also closed to Long Tien pagoda under famous Bai Tho mountain which will be very crowded by locals at middle of lunar month.

Night market is also recommend for people like shopping. The market lies on Bai Chay beach which mostly walking distance from your hotel.
